Default minor vigor futures (and how to fix it)

With this farming change, high-demand minor runes, such as minor vigor will rise in price, perhaps sharply over the next few weeks. The problem is that "blue" drops are much more 'rare' with the recent change.

A fix for this is rather simple. The color of a rune should be based on its trader price, not based on its "superior, major, minor" distinction. This way, as soon as something becomes "rare", a downward price pressure due to increased supply should steady the price.

In a similar manner, if there were green, collector, and weapon mod traders, the actual market value of a drop could be determined -- permitting its color to be set appropriately.

This sort of mechanism would make the gold/purple/blue coloring much more informative.

P.S. No, I don't have enough cash to stock up on minor vigor runes... wish I did though

I see two other much simpler ways to adjust the prices of the runes:

1 - Make them also immune from the drop scaling.
2 - Adjust the drop rate to bring the price towards what ANET wants.

So /unsigned as your option is much more complicated than necessary for the results you are after.

Where did you get the impression blue drop rarity has increased? I've not noticed any difference. I have the feeling this is one of those rumours someone started when hardmode was introduced over the weekend.

..."Oh nooo, hardmode is going to cause drops to be more rare...."

*roles eyes*

I've never had a staggering number of minor or major runes drops in the 2 years ive been playing anyway.

Since I dont agree blue drops are becoming more rare, I dont agree their price will increase.

So /not signed

This is unvalidated scare-mongering.

The drop scaling would mean that runes drop less for parties smaller than full groups as, apart from gold runes, runes are not exempt from the drop scaling introduced at the same time as hard mode. See the game update notes. Those people who stick with full parties will remain unaffected by the loot scaling, but might notice an increase as ANET has removed the other anti-farming measures.

My problem is that he is over-thinking a solution to a problem, not that the problem might not actually appear. I feel that guessing at possible problems and deciding on their solution before they appear means you will solve them quicker if they do arise.

See (and I apologise to solo-farmers who might not like this view), but I dont really have any sympathy for solo farmers who this effects.

I never solo farm, because I make enough gold playing in 8 man teams, or with AI to support myself.

My personal view is that solo-farmers so what they do, to become "rich" and have more gold then they need.

Their greedy! (just my view)

So because this doesnt effect me, because I play in 8 man teams all the time, I dont really care. Boo hoo, that your solo-farming is being nerfed. Play the game normally and you can make enough gold to support yourself.

So /not signed purely on that.

No matter what you think of solo farmers, the fact of the matter is that they provided a constant stream of resources to the traders and were the driving force behind keeping the proces down. Farmers can no longer do this and as such, the "supply/demand" model that the traders use will cause prices of these comodities to rise significantly.

The OP is not trying to look out for farmers, they are looking out for the general populous.

Personally, I've solo farmed millions of gold over the past 2 years.(Greed was never A factor for me, I just have fun grinding gold.) Much of that gold was by picking up white garbage and merching it, as it is for most other solo players as well. Playing in A group will net you 1/8 of the loot that drops, playing solo will net you 1/8 of the loot that drops... Sure you can squeeze by and support yourself with collector items, but what about those of us who have already used that crap to get where we are now? Just saying that although it does do the job just as well, it becomes tiring to see and new rare or cool stuff is fun to have.

Anyway to the OP, play in normal mode and watch the blue junk fly at you(and your team mates).

I keep playing 8/8 full Ai party, and felt no change in Normal Mode.
In hard mode, drops do seem to be less.
